Video Segmentation via Diffusion Bases

چکیده
Identifying moving objects in a video sequence, which is produced by a static camera, is a fundamental and critical task in many computer-vision applications. A common approach performs background subtraction, which identifies moving objects as the portion of a video frame that differs significantly from a background model. A good background subtraction algorithm has to be robust to changes in the illumination and it should avoid detecting nonstationary background objects such as moving leaves, rain, snow, and shadows. In addition, the internal background model should quickly respond to changes in background such as objects that start to move or stop. We present a new algorithm for video segmentation that processes the input video sequence as a 3D matrix where the third axis is the time domain. Our approach identifies the background by reducing the input dimension using the diffusion bases methodology. Furthermore, we describe an iterative method for extracting and deleting the background. The algorithm has two versions and thus covers the complete range of backgrounds: one for scenes with static backgrounds and the other for scenes with dynamic (moving) backgrounds. keywords: Video Segmentation, Background subtraction, Markov processes, Graph algorithms. ∗Corresponding author: [email protected], Tel:+972-54-5456226, Fax:+972-3-6803342 1 ar X iv :1 30 5. 02 18 v1 [ cs .C V ] 1 M ay 2 01 3

متن کاملHybrid Video Segmentation with Feature Extraction using Anisotropic Diffusion
In recent years, video segmentation is considered as the major research area for digital storage. Video segmentation is different from the image segmentation. Video segmentation is a challenging problem. In video segmentation, for a given image the segmentation achieved should be related to the previous image that belongs to the same shot. In our proposed video segmentation technique, at first ...
متن کاملVideo segmentation using stabilized inverse diffusion
A video segmentation scheme using stabilized inverse diffusion equations is proposed. The scheme is based on the non-linear scale-space analysis of video lattice. Non-linear diffusion and especially Stabilized inverse diffusion is a very robust method for image segmentation. In this paper the two-dimensional diffusion process has been extended to three dimensions. The segmentation scheme is bas...

متن کاملAssessment of the Log-Euclidean Metric Performance in Diffusion Tensor Image Segmentation
Introduction: Appropriate definition of the distance measure between diffusion tensors has a deep impact on Diffusion Tensor Image (DTI) segmentation results. The geodesic metric is the best distance measure since it yields high-quality segmentation results. However, the important problem with the geodesic metric is a high computational cost of the algorithms based on it. The main goal of this ...
